I ♥ Faces-Week 16- "Reflection"

~ Children's Entry ~

Title: "A Worthy Harvest"

It's week 16 over at iheartfaces and the challenge this week was to compose a picture using some type of reflection like a mirror.

This morning I woke up with this idea in my head. Behind our home, they are harvesting the grass for hay. I wanted to capture the hay bales in the background, because they represent a harvest, but metaphorically speaking I wanted to emphasize my boys as the future harvest.

Every mom knows that a mother's day is never done. And, nobody ever said that raising children was easy. Being a mother is a lot of work, but the rewards are plentiful and abundant. I love being a mom and reaping the joy that my children give me!

Me.Myself. and I

iheartfaces Adult Entry
This past week the photography challenge over at iheartfaces was to capture yourself and you couldn't use a tripod. So, I am just curious how many times it took others to get a picture they liked???

My New Photography Studio. Almost.

Remember that bathroom where we had a frog portrait done because no one ever used it? Well, this past week while we were on Spring Break I started a project. See

And, I just couldn't wait to show the "unfinished" work!

Now, when you come to my house, you will have some nice pictures to look at while you are...doing whatever it is you do in a bathroom. I just have to fill those frames now with some really good icandy.

I still have to make the shower curtains, but you can see what the material is like and how high it will be. So, here is where I seek your input.

What color rugs and towels would you put in here??

I ♥ Faces Week 14 Easter

Sometimes, the unexpected happens and you just happen to have your camera there. I love this picture because of what it represents. The father is an avid football fan and just happened to walk into the frame while I was trying to capture his daughters. Stop! don't move. It was perfect. I love the contrast of him holding the football with his lovely daughters happily playing beside him. It was unexpected, it made a statement, and it worked and that's why I chose this picture.

If you would like to join in with a wonderful group of photographers, click on the link below. This week's theme is Easter and you have until 9 o'clock this Tuesday to submit an entry.

How'd Ya do that Beth?

One of the things I love about the internet and blogging and photography bloggers is how much fun it is to share info. Several people asked about my frog photo shoot. So, rather than email them, which is what I usually do when I respond to people. I thought it would be fun to do a second post on how I did it.

So, here goes...

We have this bathroom that no one ever uses. It has a great window light source and it is the perfect backdrop for a frog's portrait. See

By placing him in the corner of the tub, I had a perfect white backdrop. (Yes, I did clean that tub and remember no one uses it anyway.) :D

Here is my SOOC (straight out of camera shot) SOOC just means "unedited" no stuff has been done to it in Lightroom or Photoshop.

Here is where the fun comes in.

1. Opened it in Lightroom 2 and adjusted the "dingy" dark feel by using one of the FREE 140 presets from onOneSoftware. They are awesome and you can download them by clicking
here.

2. Sent it over to Photoshop and applied the group action called
"Urban Cover Model" from MCP actions because after all even a frog needs a little glamour.

3. Finally I added the frame that is
free over at MCP actions.

And that is how I ended up with this.

Oh, and if you want to make the frog smile and you have PS CS2 or above....
Go into Filters>then into "Liquify"> then use the "finger tool" and move those pixels around until its just right. :D

Boybarian Dad this is how big he was.

My First Paid Photo Shoot :D

Well, yesterday I had my first official client. We greeted each other cordially and he expressed his confidence in my abilities to photograph his most prized possession well. His pet frog! :D

Unfortunately, when I showed him this picture, he was not happy that his pet was not smiling and wanted me to try again. So, I went for the feather and tickled his chin. And whadda ya know that silly frog smiled. See

Oh, and if your wondering how much I was paid for my work. It was exactly one big bear hug. :D
